Item Description:
Up for sale is a fantastic lot of two (2) authentic, original vintage black-and-white photographs from Bulgaria, dating to the pre-WWII interwar era. This set features two distinct scenes from a large military banquet or gathering, complete with rare studio stamps from a prominent photographer in the capital city of Sofia.
Photo Details:
• Photo 1 (Officers and Ladies): A wonderful, crisp group shot at a dinner table featuring two royal Bulgarian military officers in dark high-collar dress uniforms with shoulder boards and medals. They are seated with civilian guests, including two elegantly dressed women. Bottles, glasses, and an ashtray clutter the table. Features a classic deckle edge.
• Photo 2 (Large Banquet Canteen): An expansive interior scene capturing a large dining hall filled with dozens of seated personnel and officers. A prominent officer sits in the foreground on the left alongside a civilian gentleman. Enlisted soldiers in standard service tunics can be seen standing along the right side and near the wood-burning stove in the background. Features a classic deckle edge.
Historical / Photographer Stamp Details:
The reverse side of both photographs features the highly collectible, original ink photographer's studio stamps from central Sofia:
• Top Photo: Stamped in purple ink with "ФОТО ЗАШЕВЪ / София, Ц. Иоанна 1" (Photo Zachev / Sofia, Tsaritsa Ioanna St. 1) along with an "Agfa-Brovira" paper watermark.
• Bottom Photo: Stamped in red ink with the matching "Фото „ЗАШЕВЪ“ / София, Ц. Иоанна 1" design.
• Historical Note: This documents the work of the famous Zachev studio operating on Tsaritsa Ioanna Street during the Bulgarian royal era. Faint pencil inventory markings ("263/6" and "274") are also present.
Condition:
Both snapshots are original vintage items in very good condition. They exhibit crisp focus, strong tonal contrast, and clean margins along the classic deckle borders. No major creases, tears, or pinholes are present on either print. Please review the high-resolution images closely to evaluate specific condition details.
An excellent addition for collectors specializing in royal Bulgarian militaria, pre-war Balkan social/dining traditions, or historic Sofia photography studios.
