Up for sale/sale is a highly collectible, authentic vintage tribal art clay face vessel (*Damarau*) from the renowned Aibom Village in the Chambri Lakes region of the Middle Sepik River, Papua New Guinea.
This mid-20th-century ethnographic piece features a remarkably expressive, heavily stylized ancestral/spirit face sculpted in high relief. The design showcases large, concentric circular eyes, a prominent nose ridge, and a wide open smiling mouth. The sides of the vessel feature classic protruding, stylized ear extensions with integrated decorative piercings.
The entire piece is traditionally decorated with natural white and charcoal mineral clay slips.
