Authentic Hand-Forged Nepalese Heavy Working Kukri (Khukuri) – Hand-Chiseled Devanagari Script Markings – 13-5/16" Broad Carbon Steel Blade – Carved Hardwood Handle with Brass Diamond Peened Butt – 18-9/16" Overall – Made in Nepal
Up for sale/sale is an imposing, authentic Hand-Forged Nepalese Heavy Eastern Kukri, measuring an impressive 18-9/16" overall with a massive 13-5/16" forward-weighted blade.
Handcrafted by traditional Kami bladesmiths in Eastern Nepal, this heavy-bladed working tool carries hand-chiseled Devanagari script inscriptions across the show side: reading नेपाल (Nepal) vertically along the ricasso, alongside horizontal workshop script denoting its Eastern Nepal regional pedigree.
Built with authentic through-tang (Paro-tang) construction, the steel tang traverses the entire length of the carved hardwood handle and is mechanically peened tight over a traditional solid brass lozenge/diamond plate at the pommel.
Traditional Specifications & Cultural Highlights:
Authentic Hand-Chiseled Inscriptions: Features traditional Devanagari writing chiseled directly into the high-carbon steel on the show face.
Traditional Cho / Kaudi Notch: Intact religious and functional notch at the base of the blade, symbolizing the trident of Shiva and serving as an essential stress-relief choil and blood/sap drop point.
Carved Himalayan Hardwood Handle: Shaped with three traditional concentric carved grip rings to provide non-slip traction during heavy swings.
Solid Brass Hardware: Fitted with a seamless brass forward bolster/ferrule and anchored at the butt by a brass diamond keeper plate where the tang is peened flush.
Physical & Cosmetic Condition (Detailed & Transparent):
Blade & Cutting Edge: Structurally solid with an intact, clean cutting edge and sharp tip. Surfaces display an honest, unpolished working carbon steel finish with light handling scuffs; no cracks or structural flaws.
Handle & Peened Tang: The solid wood handle is completely tight with zero wobble or play against the brass ferrule or blade shoulder. The peened diamond keeper plate is solid. Shows light handling scuffs and minor age dust settled into the carved ring flutes.
Scabbard: Please note this listing is for the kukri only; the scabbard (dap) and companion tools are not included.
An authentic, imposing piece of Nepalese edged history, ideal for collectors of ethnographic militaria, traditional kukris, or heavy-duty outdoor chopping tools.
