Authentic Vintage Gurkha "Dui Chirra" Double-Fullered Kukri (Khukuri) – Hand-Forged High-Carbon Steel – Stamped "L. B." with Crescent Moon & Radiant Sun Royal Nepalese Emblems – Full Tapered Tang (Panawal) Hardwood Handle – 14-3/16" Overall
Up for sale/sale is an authentic vintage Gurkha Dui Chirra (Double-Fullered) Kukri, measuring approximately 14-3/16" overall with a 9.5" hand-forged carbon steel blade.
Reflecting traditional Nepalese military and armory craftsmanship, this piece features dual deep fullers (Dui Chirra) meticulously ground beneath the spine to optimize swing speed, balance, and structural rigidity. The obverse blade face is stamped with the maker/armory code "L. B.", accompanied by the official Crescent Moon and Radiant Sun (Chandra-Surya) national emblems of Nepal, alongside distinct inspector or workshop punch marks along the upper spine.
Built in the rugged Panawal style, the knife features an exposed full tapered tang sandwiched between contoured hardwood scales fastened with dual pins and reinforced by a polished forward ferrule.
Model Highlights & Collector Specifications:
Dui Chirra (Double Fuller) Geometry: Two broad parallel fullers forged and ground into the blade to reduce blade mass, enhance balance, and disperse kinetic shock.
Full Tapered Tang (Panawal Build): One-piece full tang visible along the entire handle perimeter, tapering smoothly to the pommel to maintain forward chopping balance.
Hardwood Scales & Silver Ferrule: Contoured wooden scales secured with dual pins, abutted against a solid white metal/silver bolster collar.
Traditional Cho / Kaudi: Features the intact classic sacred notch at the ricasso.
Physical & Cosmetic Condition:
Blade Steel & Fullers: Structurally sound and straight with clean, well-defined dual fullers and an intact cutting edge and tip. The steel displays an honest vintage working patina with light surface handling marks; free of deep rust or active corrosion.
Handle & Hardware: The full tapered tang is rigid and true. The wood scales are tight, smooth, and crack-free, with zero play against the tang or ferrule. Both pins and the forward bolster collar are completely secure.
Scabbard: Please note this listing is for the kukri only; the scabbard (dap) is not included.
An authentic, well-balanced historic piece for collectors of Gurkha militaria, British/Indian regiment edged weapons, or traditional fullered kukris.
