A very rare and striking vintage Soviet rug featuring a large portrait of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin on a deep red background. The design is bold, graphic and highly recognizable, made in a strong Soviet propaganda style typical of the 1960s–1970s.
The rug has a powerful visual presence: Lenin’s portrait is woven in beige, grey and black tones, with a dramatic red field behind it. The portrait is executed in a graphic dotted / halftone style, giving the piece a very expressive mid-century Soviet look.
This is not a common decorative carpet — it is a true historical object from the Soviet period. Pieces like this were often used as ideological décor in offices, public rooms, cultural institutions, party-related spaces, or private interiors of the USSR era. Today it works perfectly as a collectible wall textile, Soviet-era interior piece, museum-style display item, or a bold statement object for collectors of communist, Cold War and propaganda memorabilia.
Approximate size: 120 x 90 cm / 47 x 35 inches.
The rug has a beautiful bright red color and strong contrast. It looks impressive both on the floor and as a wall hanging. The black edge and beige border give it a finished, decorative look.
Condition:
Vintage used condition with signs of age and use. There may be light wear, small imperfections, age-related marks, slight unevenness to the edges and general vintage textile wear. Please carefully review all photos, as they are an important part of the description. Overall, the rug remains bright, expressive and highly decorative.
A rare opportunity to acquire an original Soviet propaganda textile with one of the most iconic images of the 20th century.
