Vintage Erzgebirge nutcracker, Austrian flag bearer figure, made by VEB Holz- und Drechslerwaren, Rothenthal, German Democratic Republic. The base and box are marked "Made in German Democratic Republic."
The figure has a blue hat with red braided cord and a yellow plume, white fur hair and beard, a red-and-white striped vest, and blue trousers. It holds a spear-tipped staff with a red-and-white Austrian flag.
Please note: the flag staff is broken near the lower end. Both pieces are included and are shown in the photos. The nutcracker figure itself is otherwise in good condition.
Includes the original green "Nussknacker" box with the winter church scene and Erzgebirgische Volkskunst printing. The box shows wear with age, including creasing, edge scuffs, and a torn/paper-loss spot on the top flap. The original round paper seal is still attached.
Please review all photos for condition. Ships in the original box inside a plain outer shipping box.
