Unusual vintage spherical brass table lighter, likely made in Japan during the 1950s or early 1960s. Its semi-automatic lift-arm mechanism was inspired by the German KW ball lighters first produced during the Art Deco period.The rounded brass body gives it a wonderful Atomic Age or Mid-Century Modern appearance. These decorative table lighters were made for desks, cocktail bars and smoking tables and are now collected as vintage tobacciana and barware.• Brass spherical body
