Tibetan Gilt Bronze & Gold leaf Tara Goddess Statue For Sale

This beautiful piece is a Tibetan Buddhist statue of Green Tara (known in Tibetan as Jetsun Dolma), a revered female bodhisattva representing compassion, swift protection, and enlightened activity.Iconography & Symbolism

• The Mudras (Hand Gestures): Her right hand is extended down over her knee in the Varada Mudra (the gesture of charity, boon-granting, and generosity). Her left hand is raised near her chest in the Prithvi Mudra or Vitarka Mudra (the gesture of teaching and refuge), typically holding the stem of a lotus flower that blossoms over her shoulder.
• The Third Eye: Prominently painted on her forehead, this symbolizes her all-seeing wisdom and spiritual insight.
• Materials & Craftsmanship: The figure features a dark oxidized metal body contrasted with gilt-gold detailing on her face, elaborate crown, and jewelry. Her hair is painted in a traditional deep blue mineral pigment, standard for sacred Himalayan sculptures.

This is a family heirloom purchased when my grandmother was a tour guild in the 60-70's.
