WHO WAS H. L. STANDLEY?
Harry Landis Standley (July 28, 1881 – March 1951).
• Cripple Creek as a boy (family arrived 1893); Colorado Springs photographer from the 1900s until 1951
• Own studio at 224 North Tejon Street from 1921
• Sold framed and hand-tinted mountain and Garden of the Gods scenes for decades
• Among the first to photograph all 54 of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks
• Charter member of the AdAmAn Club (New Year’s Eve Pikes Peak climb, first ascent Dec. 31, 1922)
• Called “Colorado’s best press agent” in Pikes Peak Library District scholarship
• Work held by Pikes Peak Library District, Colorado College Tutt Library, BYU, and Denver Public Library
