The brass Musashi tsuba is the focal point here, set against a black piano-lacquered saya and a black cotton ito wrap. Beneath it is a hand-forged 1045 high carbon steel blade, heat tempered and hand sharpened, with a smooth profile and no hi. It arrives sharp, with a full tang and fittings that come fully apart — a traditional katana made for regular handling and care.

Why Collectors Choose This Sword

• Hand-forged 1045 high carbon steel, heat tempered. 52–54 HRC at the edge holds a keen, hand-sharpened edge; a softer 48–50 HRC spine absorbs shock. The blade is smooth, with no hi, for clean, simple lines.
• Full tang, signed with a unique number. The tang runs the full length of the handle, and the katana can be fully taken apart for cleaning and reassembled.
• Traditional tsuka. Wood core, genuine rayskin (same), black Japanese cotton ito wrap and metal menuki — a secure, classic grip.
• Brass Musashi tsuba. A traditional Musashi-style guard in brass — the centerpiece of this katana.
• Black piano-lacquered saya. Wooden scabbard finished in deep black lacquer and tied with a black Japanese cotton Sword (SKU 668)Steel1045 High Carbon SteelHardness52–54 HRC (edge) / 48–50 HRC (spine)ProcessHand Forged, Heat TemperedTsuba (Guard)Brass Musashi tsubaHi (Blood Groove)No Hi — smooth blade without blood grooveEdgeHand Sharpened — Sharp and functionalTsuka (Handle)Wood core, genuine rayskin, black cotton Ito, Metal MenukiBlade Length28.5" (with Habaki)Handle Length10.5"Overall Length40.5" (with Saya)Weight2.15 lbs (without Saya) / 2.6 lbs (with Saya)Saya (Scabbard)Black Piano Lacquered WoodTangFull Tang — Signed with unique numberDisassemblyFully DisassemblableHandle Wrap (Ito)Black Japanese Cotton ItoMenukiMetal MenukiSageoBlack Cotton SageoShips fromWalnut, California, USAWhat's in the Box

  Care and Use

Suited to light cutting practice such as rolled tatami omote, soft mats and water-filled bottles, where permitted by local law. Not intended for hard targets such as metal, stone or seasoned hardwood. The blade can rust if left wet: wipe it dry after handling and apply a light coat of sword oil before storing.
