Description
This striking handcrafted ash wood statue depictsEris, known in Roman tradition asDiscordia, theGreek goddess of disorder, chaos, and disruptive change. In classical mythology, Eris represents the unpredictable forces that challenge order and provoke transformation, reminding humanity that chaos and creation are deeply intertwined.
InDiscordianism, a modern belief system inspired by the bookPrincipia Discordia(1963) byGreg Hill and Kerry Wendell Thornley, Eris is revered as the symbolic goddess ofchaos, disorder, humor, and philosophical paradox. Depending on interpretation, Eris may be viewed as the goddess of disorder alone or of bothdisorder and chaos, with both perspectives supported by Discordian thought.
Although Discordianism was originally presented as aparody religion, many adherents and philosophers embrace it as alegitimate spiritual metaphor, worldview, or governing philosophy, emphasizing freedom of thought, skepticism of rigid systems, and the creative power of chaos.
Carved fromnatural ash wood, this statue blends ancient mythological symbolism with modern esoteric philosophy. Its bold presence makes it ideal foroccult altars, Discordian shrines, meditation spaces, philosophical decor, or collectors of mythological and countercultural art.
