This is an old original cap tally from the 2nd class battleship H.M.S. CENTURION (not the \'Dreadnought\' type which served in the Great War).I received this tally along with others in the form of an apron many years ago (30+) made from the tallies of ships which served on the China Station during the early 1900s - including the old US Navy ship USS Monterey. (which I have since sold).
Tally is in reasonable condition with one small tare at far end.Tally is of the gold wire type (tarnished), with a very small dot which was the norm in use for that period of timeIt is 18-inches in length (probably of a cap.
The CENTURION served in China during the Boxer Rebellion having been launched in August 1892 and was later scrapped at Morecambe in 1910.
