Estimated to date between the 1890s and the 1920s.PREMIUM CARVING & DESIGN DETAILS• Detailed Edelweiss ReliefDeeply hand-carved folk-art rendering of the iconic Alpine Edelweiss flower and native mountain foliage across both folding end panels.• Hand-Punched \"Cobblestone\" GroundUnlike common, mass-produced souvenir slides that feature flat, smooth frames, this premium piece showcases a hand-stippled \"cobblestone\" textured background across the base. This labor-intensive Brienz-style chip-carving technique was used by skilled artisans to create depth, making the relief work pop dynamically.• PatinaCrafted from solid wood with a rich, beautifully aged natural deep patina.• Function: Built-in brass-hinged end panels fold flat for easy storage or transport. Dual expansion tracks slide smoothly to accommodate everything from a small stack of journals to a full set of books. Commonly used on desktops, mantles, or in libraries.MEASUREMENTS

CONDITION
Pre-owned antique condition.Wood features an authentic patina from age with some light dust in the deep crevices. Expansion mechanism functions exactly as intended, and both side panels fold flat securely. Minor light surface scuffs consistent with historical use and display. Free of major structural breaks or repaired flower petals.Note on Base:
There is a minor, stable hairline age crack on the base tracking along the natural wood grain, which does not affect the sliding mechanism or the structural integrity of the piece (close-up photo provided).Workmanship MarkingsThe faint blue/green numbers \"279\" on the wood are a factory assembly batch number, rather than an artist\'s signature. In late 19th-century Swiss and German workshops, separate craftsmen would carve different components. Numbers like this were stamped or hand-written to ensure the correctly fitted hand-dovetailed sliders stayed paired together during final assembly.Sold as is, as found, in pre-owned antique condition.
