Antique Russian / Eastern Orthodox Icon - Mother of God \"Kazan\" depicting the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child / Baby Jesus.HAND PAINTED Egg Yoke WoodI love this icon! I had it for years.It\'s got that great folk art feel.The hand painted art is done in egg tempera paint made with egg yoke, water, and splash of vinegar. The matte colors are vibrant,especially the yellow / gold halos over Mary and Jesus\'s head..The original work is incased in a copper crude frame and then put in a wood frame. The painting, believe, is done on wood or board. It was framed years ago by my framer.The overall size is approximately is 11 7/8\" high by 9 7/8\" wide.It is Great Antique Condition.The woodframe is distressed and the icon has some paint loss and other insignificant issues.See photos.Email with questions.This would be a great wedding gift.Thanks for looking!
