Antique Robeson ShurEdge three-blade split-back Whittler made by the Robeson Cutlery Company of Rochester, New York. Approximately 3¼ inches closed and estimated to date from circa 1910–1925.
The primary blade is tang stamped:
The reverse tang is stamped with Robeson pattern number 733131. The secondary blades also retain faint Robeson Rochester markings.
This knife has genuine split-back Whittler construction: one master blade opens alone from one end, while two smaller secondary blades open from the opposite end. Its two backsprings converge beneath the master-blade tang. The accompanying spine photographs clearly show this desirable traditional construction.
The handles appear to be genuine mother-of-pearl with an inset shield, nickel-silver bolsters and brass liners.
One secondary blade is broken, leaving a short blade or stub. The remaining blades show substantial sharpening, wear, dark patina and surface oxidation consistent with considerable age and use. The mother-of-pearl handles remain attractive with normal vintage wear. Please examine all photographs carefully for blade profiles, handle condition and overall construction.
