The Antique cosmetically Restored Coralene Glass Egg Tantalus Cordial Set Decanter is a stunning piece of barware that consists of a decanter made from amber orange and brown glass, along with six matching glasses. I cosmetically restored this antique egg. It is not untouched. This is what I did.
Cleaning the egg and glass components.
• Applying a color-matched finish to the deteriorated interior. I the original hand painting is untouched and the original color that you see from the outside is untouched. I only sealed it so that it would stop flaking.
• Applying a clear, high-gloss resin-based sealer to the interior.
• Cosmetically refinishing the aged and rusted metal hardware with an antique-style finish.
• Adding a decorative heart-shaped charm to the front closure, which is not original to the piece.
The original exterior floral artwork and
I was able to preserve all the original artwork and original color and all of the little raised flower motives. Hand placed on the outside have not been touched. The only thing that was enhanced was the inside was flaking really bad so I took a tiny handheld blower and removed the flakes found a similar acrylic color and sealed all the original paint so that it could no longer flake and I used gold leaf to enhance the original metal that was all worn and rusted. I added a little heart charm it turned out very nice. I think if you zoom into all the photos for details, you can judge for yourself, but this piece is as is it won’t hurt my feelings to keep it for a long time if it’s not for you. I really think it’s a great piece. One of the cordials does have a crack not a chip that’s in the photos and 👥 4 are matching and original.
