Old Antique Wood Zenith Boomerang Vintage Tube Radio - Restored & Working:
$450.00

Herewe have a stunning 1942 Zenith model 6D2614 tabletop tube radio. Designed byRobert Davol Budlong, one of Zenith's most prolific engineers, this was one ofthe last Zenith tabletop radios to be produced while the United States wasentering WWII and Zenith was changing its lines over to wartime production. Theradio is commonly referred to as the 'Boomerang' for its uniquely shaped dialand features a gorgeous American Walnut cabinet, great Art Deco appeal, builtin loop antenna and excellent performance.

Cabinet: TheAmerican Walnut cabinet is a real stunner. Beautiful wood grain flowsthroughout the entire set. Its humpback design and boomerang shaped dial remindyou of why Zenith was second to none when it came to quality and craftsmanship.A circular cut grill not only adds to the Art Deco appeal but allows foroptimal sound from the speaker. Jet black trim and dark walnut tones finish thecabinet off perfectly. Everybody will stop to admire this beauty no matterwhich room in the home or office you choose to display it in.

Dial& Knobs: The popular boomerang shaped black dial is quiteattractive. It is illuminated by two dial lamps and features the Am broadcastscale and Zenith logo in a silver color. Everything on the dial is legible andshows very little signs of wear. The knobs control on/off & volume andtuning.

GrillCloth: The 1930's style grill cloth is a fine replacement fabricfeaturing a yellow gold color with a wheat like pattern. This fabric can alsobe purchased separately in our store or just click this link: class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;">

Chassis: All tubes in the 6-tube chassis were tested with any weaktubes being replaced. All filter caps were replaced with all other capacitors, filters and resistors checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or barewiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, andre-aligned for optimal performance. Using just the built-in loop antenna, theradio plays exceptionally well. I'm able to receive many stations across the AMbroadcast band with deep, rich tone and plenty of volume.

Not afan of AM broadcast? Little or no AM stations in your area? It's like your very own in-house radiostation! Sold separately in our store. Here is the link which includes ademonstration on how it works: class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;">TheCabinet’s Finish, Restoration Process and Repairs: OurRadio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintainthe natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster andshine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. Wethen sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood.Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer isre-secured. We make sure any filler applied, or repairs made are blended nicelyand do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. Newstains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats ofMohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radiowas originally finished in the factory. We use nitrocellulose piano lacquerwhich is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in aclimate-controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also applyvery thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not coverit up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishingprocess and ending with a QAR-Glaze rub (available in our store or clickhere: https://www..com/itm/133346478270). Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the outcomeis a beautiful, natural-looking cabinet with gorgeous luster & shine. Ourradios are a great piece of history that comes to you ready to proudly display,as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office.
