Original antique Pictorial Review Patterns advertising sign.This is a heavy double-sided porcelain enamel sign housed in an equally heavy old wooden frame. Both sides display the same bold black-and-cream Pictorial Review Patterns advertising. This would have originally been displayed by a fabric, sewing, dry goods, or department store that sold Pictorial Review dress patterns.Pictorial Review began publishing in 1899 and ceased publication in 1939, placing this sign firmly in the early 20th century. Based on its construction, lettering, porcelain finish, and period frame, I believe it likely dates from the 1910s through the 1930s.The sign is absolutely not perfect, but it has a ton of honest age and character. There is porcelain loss, chipping, surface wear, discoloration, scratches, rust around the exposed areas, and general wear on both sides. The wooden frame also shows age, scratches, marks, and wear. One side displays a little better than the other. However both display well. Please study all photos closely, as they are the best description of its condition.This is a heavy, substantial piece—not a modern tin reproduction.
