Rare Minnesota Advertising & Presidential History Collectible
This unique pair of octagonal portrait plates combines American political history with early 20th-century Minnesota business advertising. Originally given as \"complimentary\" gifts to loyal customers, these plates are a wonderful crossover collectible for history buffs and \"Old World\" decor enthusiasts.
The Portraits:
Mrs. Lincoln (Mary Todd Lincoln): Featured in a warm, sepia-toned oval frame with her signature floral headpiece.
Mrs. Taft (Helen Herron Taft): Featured in a crisp, classic portrait.
The Minnesota Connection (Backstamps):
These were promotional pieces for prominent local co-operatives:
\"Compliments Waterville-Rochdale Co.\" (Waterville, MN)
\"Trade With The Otter Tail County Co-operative Co.\" (Fergus Falls, Minn.)
Condition Report:
Good antique condition. Both plates show beautiful authentic crazing and some age-related \"browning\" or tea-staining, which adds to their primitive/shabby chic appeal. There is some expected wear to the gold gilt along the octagonal rims. No large chips or structural cracks. One small flea bite on the back of the Lincoln plate.
