Beautiful antique octagonal vanity or trinket box crafted in 800 silver with richly colored shell panels and elegant geometric silverwork. A refined and unusual decorative object with wonderful untouched antique antique octagonal vanity or trinket box crafted in 800 silver with genuine tortoiseshell panels throughout. This is an especially refined example, featuring elegant geometric chased silverwork around the body and warm translucent shell with deep amber and chocolate tones.
The box retains a wonderful untouched antique character, with age-related patina and surface wear consistent with a genuine antique piece. The shell displays beautiful depth, translucency, and natural color variation when viewed in light.
The interior remains notably clean and well preserved, suggesting the piece was carefully kept over the years.
The silver is marked “800” inside the rim, indicating continental European silver. There also appears to be an additional worn maker’s or workshop mark beside the purity mark, though it is no longer fully legible.
