Frederick H. Knubel (1870-1945) was a noted American pastor at United Lutheran Church in America, who became president of that body from 1918 until his death. He was a noted parliamentarian and orator, especially as a radio speaker. He was ordained in 1896 at St. John's Church, New York, where he was baptized and confirmed. He then founded the Church of the Atonement, which he served until becoming president of the ULCA. He held a number of degrees: a master of arts degree from Gettysburg Theological Seminary, which he received in 1895, a doctor of divinity degree from that same institution in 1914, a doctor of letters degree from Thiel College in 1919 and finally a doctor of sacred theology degree from Syracuse University in 1930. A lectureship, the Knubel-Miller Foundation, was established in 1944 in his honor.
