ANTIQUE ART DECO SMALL JEWELED GILT BRASS CUT GLASS COVERED RING TRINKET VANITY JAR CUPID INTAGLIO 1930’s
Absolutely exquisite little jar in excellent antique condition.
Rare purple glass color on the waffle cut glass body and the lid.
The filigreed gilt brass frame is set on 3 ball feet and inset with sparkly jewels. All jewels are original and all are present.
The gilt work remains mostly bright with minor and basically negligible darkening in a few spots, and also on the bottom of the inside lip of the frame where it can’t be seen.
These are minor and inconsequential quibbles that in no way detract from the beauty of the piece.

The intaglio lid features Cupid at his forge holding a hammer or anvil as he is busy fabricating the arrows he will use to strike the hearts of unsuspecting lovers-to-be.
Unmarked but obviously Czech and very high quality.
My consignor advises that this is a book piece which has been featured in at least one publication about Czech glass.
