Fascinating post-WWII Munich tourist and historical booklet dated January 1947 and distributed “With compliments of the American Red Cross Burgerbrau Club.”
Produced during the American occupation period, the booklet presents Munich “Yesterday and Today” and contains numerous period illustrations, architectural drawings, color artwork and information about Munich landmarks and history.
Also included is the large folding Town Plan Munich map with 45 numbered points of interest. Locations include American Red Cross Headquarters, MP Headquarters, Officers Club, Military Government Bavaria, Transient PX, Hofbräuhaus, Frauenkirche, English Gardens and numerous historic Munich landmarks.
The rear features a color regional map of Munich and surrounding Bavaria marked Printed by F. Bruckmann KG., Munich (Germany).
Original vintage condition with substantial age-related wear. The booklet shows toning, water staining, foxing/spotting, discoloration, edge and corner wear and general handling wear. The folding map shows its original fold lines, toning and age wear.
