1934 signed 2-page letter by Gordon W. Lillie \"Pawnee Bill\" with enclosure:

Interesting complete 2-page typed letter written 2 Jan 1934, and signed in blue ink by Major Gordon W. Lillie, also known as \"Pawnee Bill\", sent to Corb M. Sarchet, Secy, Chamber of Commerce, Ponca City, Oklahoma. The letter and enclosure pertains to the move of the Pawnee Bill Oklahoma Colony from Wichita, Kansas to Oklahoma.
The first paragraph states \"Enclosed find a letter from John Nyce, who was Mayor of Caldwell, Kansas, when we moved the Pawnee Bill Oklahoma Colony from Wichita down there and we waited, or rather camped, in the fairgrounds there for four days before we were allowed to cross the Cherokee Strip to the northern boundary of Old Oklaoma which was to be opened to settlement April 22, 1889.\"
The enclosure from John W. Nyce, Ex-Mayor of Caldwell, Kansas, states \"I was Mayor of the city of Caldwell, Kansas during the year 1889 and know that the \"Pawnee Bill Oklahoma Colonization Company\" of \"Boomers\" were in camp here on our fair grounds and went from here across the Cherokee Strip, to the north line of Oklahoma and entered Oklahoma on April 22, 1889.\"
