1933 Japanese Army Manchurian Incident Defense Donation Record Tanks Aircraft For Sale

DescriptionThis is an original 1933 Japanese Army publication titled
“Commemorative Record of National Defense Donations during the Manchurian Incident.”It was published by the Japanese Army Ministry and clearly marked “Not for Sale.”The book documents the large-scale national defense donation movement that developed in Japan following the Manchurian Incident, when individuals, companies, and organizations contributed funds and military equipment to the Army.The contents include:* A message of thanks from War Minister Sadao Araki
* Photographs of donated military equipment
* Japanese Army aircraft
* Tanks and armored vehicles
* Large military and anti-aircraft weapons
* Statistical charts showing defense donations
* Lists of donors and related recordsThe book is especially interesting because it combines official Army documentation, military photographs, technical information, and statistical material in a single volume.Rather than being a general military photo book, it shows how civilian society and the Imperial Japanese Army became increasingly connected during the early 1930s through military fundraising and donation campaigns.The colophon states:Printed July 31, 1933
