Offered is avintage 1927 Buick Winged Goddess radiator cap mascot / hood ornament, an impressive early Buick accessory from the Art Deco era.
This distinctive design features a beautifully detailedfemale head with flowing hair and dramatic swept-back wings. The wing feathers, facial features, headband/crown and flowing hair retain considerable detail.
The 1927 Buick Goddess design is associated withTernstedt Manufacturing Co.and designerWilliam Schnell, whose design was covered byU.S. Design Patent D71,217.
Condition
This is anunrestored vintage pieceshowing considerable age and use. The original plated finish has substantial wear and loss, with oxidation, discoloration, surface deterioration, pitting and age-related cracking/crazing visible around portions of the radiator-cap body. There is wear and some loss/chipping along edges and high points.
