Assuming my research sources are correct, this pattern of steamship china was also produced for the public trade. I have two reasons to believe this pair is from the actual HMS Lucania steamship itself.1. The date translation of the English Rd No 211725 is 1893. The year the of the Luciana launching and maiden voyage.2. It has damage and stains commensurate with use typical of Late 19th Century steamship family style (tureen/casserole dish) dining room china.Item condition:The lid: It has an old period repair. It was once in two pieces. The repair is visible but otherwise very well done. I suggest limited handling. It nests securely in the base. The scallop shell knob is damaged and missing a portion of the rim/edge (see photos). There is no surface wear. The glaze is strong. There is crazing and light discoloration commensurate with age and use.The base: There is no surface wear. The glaze is strong. It has discoloration/stains commensurate with age and use. The scallop shell handles are damaged a lot like the lid\'s knob (see photos). There is light crazing that is harder to see than the lid\'s. I see no other issues.
Seller\'s note: In my opinion, old repairs are not necessarily a bad thing. I knew a woman at Brimfield who only sold antique porcelain repairs. She had a very interesting respectful inventory and following.
