Original handwritten resolution dated November 1, 1825, passed by the Select and Common Councils of the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The document empowers the Mayor and committee to employ experts to investigate the feasibility and expense of introducing sufficient water supplies into the city.
The resolution also appropriates up to one hundred dollars to cover necessary expenses, drawn from city funds not otherwise allocated. Includes committee member signatures such as Mayor Matthias Slaymaker, Peter J. Ferree, and John Kaufman, Treasurer.
Manuscript is written in period ink on laid paper, showing natural toning, folds, and age-related wear. The verso is docketed: “Resolution relative to the subject of procuring water, Nov. 1, 1825.”
