A striking and exceptionally useful example of Frank Buster’s Celebrated Cutlery FIGHT’N ROOSTER pocketknife, featuring the distinctive fruit or melon sampler pattern, beautiful pearlescent “cracked ice” scales, and an unusually elaborate three-shield arrangement. Measuring a substantial 4.5” closed, this slender, elegant two-blade knife combines practical cutting ability with the thoughtful detailing and vintage character that make high-end traditional cutlery so appealing.
The long, slender 3.75” spear-point blade bears the classic FIGHT’N ROOSTER marking and is particularly well suited to slicing tasks, including fruit and food preparation. The shorter spear-point blade measures approximately 2 3/8” and provides a more convenient option for everyday utility tasks. Together, the blades make this an exceptionally versatile pattern without sacrificing its slim, refined profile.
The pearlescent “cracked ice” scales are especially attractive, lending the knife wonderful vintage character and visual depth. The bolsters are exceptionally detailed, with flowing contours and carefully executed shaping that give the knife a refined, almost sculptural appearance.
Of particular interest to collectors is the three-shield configuration on the show side: two round shields flank the classic mustache-shaped shield, one of the distinctive shield styles sought after by traditional pocketknife enthusiasts. This elaborate arrangement adds another layer of visual interest to an already exceptional presentation.
Condition: Very attractive vintage condition, with evidence of handling and storage over the years, including light scuffs, scratches, and areas of patina. The smaller blade has a slight imperfection above the nail nick that appears consistent with a manufacturing irregularity. Both blades retain their factory edges and exhibit no wobble. Action is fantastic, with excellent snap.
A handsome and thoughtfully executed FIGHT’N ROOSTER with an unusually appealing combination of cracked ice scales, detailed bolsters, and three shields. Its generous closed length and slender fruit-knife profile make it both a practical cutting tool and a compelling addition to a collection of fine traditional American pocketknives.
