View Larger Image   Stanley No 5 Jack Plane Sweetheart Type 12   Description: Offering this nice clean Stanley Bailey No 5 Jack Plane Type 12 with the smooth bottom, dated 1919-24; blade bears the Stanley Sweetheart logo. Marked behind the frog on the bed "PAT'D MAR.25-02 AUG.19-02 APR.19-10" and NO. 5 behind the handle. There is some light pitting noted around the patent date area. This plane is in good usable condition with some wear on the original black Japaning, but about 40% still intact; bear metal surfaces good condition, no cracks or chips; clean, some minor dings and pitting, mostly on the side walls, some slightly larger dings on the toe and heel end. The 2 inch wide blade is very clean, ready to work, no cracks or chips; cutter is 50% in length and sharp, some surface pitting noted on the upper areas of the cutter, and chip breaker iron, none effecting the cutting edge area. The cutter is an older type than the plane is marked "STANLEY PAT. AP'L 19.92". The cap cover is in good+ condition with very little wear. The rosewood handle is solid and clean; very minor wear - some teeny dings on the sides and as you can see there is a chip off the top edge, nice finish. Rosewood knob is in very good shape, solid and clean, minor dings, no cracks or chips.
