View Larger Image   Stanley Jointer Plane No. 7 Type 10 Early 1900's   Description: This is a nice clean Stanley jointer user plane with an old repair at the toe area on the bed casting. The repair is a welded spot across the toe in front of the BAILEY lettering. It is a good repair, only a few small pit marks can and some light darkening can be seen on the bottom (most weld on the top near the lettering), and the bottom is flat. This plane has been tested and cuts just fine. It has been cleaned, has no rust and no other damage noted. This plane is marked "STANLEY RULE & LEVEL NEW BRITAIN CONN. U.S.A." on the cutter (with the V-shaped logo), and "STANLEY PAT. 7.24.88" on the lateral lever, has most of the "Bailey" mark on the bed in front of the knob, and "No. 7" behind the tote, The patent dates are in raised lettering "PAT'D MAR-25-02 AUG-19-02" in front of the tote handle. Overall the plane is in very good working condition with about 20% of it's original black Japanning intact. The front knob and rear tote are both rosewood, both solid in good shape, the tote has a section chipped off the top, otherwise solid, both knob and handle are clean with some minor wear like tiny dings and scratches. The cutter is sharp and about 80% intact. At some point the cutter's cutting edge was ground on the reverse side, as the Stanley marking on the cutter is on the reverse side from where is should be. Sometime this happened at the factory. The cutter is sharp and ready to cut, we do not some minor pitting on the areas away from the cutting edge on the cutter and some on the chip breaker also. The bare metal has a slightly darkened patina, no pitting, smooth and nice with little wear or scratches.
