View Larger Image   Millers Falls Ratchet Auger Brace 8 inch No. 323   Description: This is a good old 8" swing ratchet brace marked "MILLERS FALLS MILLERS FALLS MASS. PAT'D.FEB'Y.18.1890" on the chuck sleeve. It is also marked "NO. 323" on the arm. It was made around 1917, and it has the spring-type alligator jaws. It features the cocobolo handles, in good solid shape, the end stock handle has a few edge dings and the cocobolo apears lighter in color than the throw handle, otherwise, both handles are in very nice solid condition overall with a smooth natural, polished finish on them. The ratchet system works well, and the chuck and jaws are in good condition. We did inspect the alligator jaws, they have a good spring, with some wear noted on the teeth, but holds just fine. The metal is clean and shiney, showing some use and age wear, but just a few minor nicks, a few small areas of minor pitting, Good+ overall. The end handle turns very smoothly, the ball bearing type drive on it. Overall, very clean, some minor pitting, no rust or cracks, good chuck.
