View Larger Image   Stanley No. 5 Jack Plane 1900's   Description: This is a very nice clean Stanley No. 5 Jack plane from the early 1900's era, with the smooth bottom. This plane has the original rosewood handle and front knob. As you can see the knob is very good, no crack, little wear, the tote or handle has the top section chipped off, but otherwise is very nice, nice finish on both. This plane is in good usable condition overall with about 70% of the original black Japanning intact. The bare metal surfaces are clean, no rust, no cracks, the bottom is flat, a few small area of minor staining noted. The cutter is marked "STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO. NEW BRITAIN CONN. U.S.A.", and is about 75% intact, sharp, ready to use, plenty of stock left for future sharpening. There is some very minor scratches and tiny dings noted, but less than average by far, measures 14" long, with a 2.0" wide cutter, with minimal wear, no cracks or damage, appears to be all original with any exceptions listed. Unlike the later models, this plane was not designed with a frog adjustment screw, but the frog is adjustable to suit your preference.
