View Larger Image   Birkhead Bros. Fish Tail Gouge Carving Chisel 1 inch   Description: This is a good quality made antique flared front chisel from the late 1800's. It is marked "BIRKHEAD BROS. SHEFFIELD" on the steel, and we believe this chisel to to made out of the famous Sheffield steel. This one is 1" wide at the front, tapering back on the sides to the tang. This chisel has a mild bent front to mid area and is out-channel sharpened, the edge is very sharp, a bit more rounded than I like to see, but very useable. It measures 7.5" long overall, with plenty of good use left. It is sharp and ready to use. No rust or damage. The handle is solid, a good ferrule, it has some minor wear, a bit short.
