collection of 11 vintage Duke’s Mixture Smoking Tobacco cigarette rolling paper booklets, dating from the early 1900s through 1912. This lot offers a fantastic instant display for any Tobacciana, advertising, or historical Americana collector.
The graphics on these covers are incredibly crisp, featuring the iconic bright yellow background and distinct red "Red Seal" signature graphics.
Lot Breakdown & Condition Details:
• 9 Booklets WITH Original Papers: These booklets still contain their vintage inner rolling paper leaves. The covers are flat, bright, and show minimal wear for their 110+ year age.
• 2 Booklets Covers Only (No Papers): Located at the bottom of the main photo, these two are empty display covers featuring two distinct historical variations:
1. Standard W. Duke Sons & Co. Cover: Features the classic pre-1911 signature red seal.
2. Rare 1912 Liggett & Myers "Black Overprint" Cover: Features the historic black bar overprinted directly across the red seal reading "Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co., Durham, N.C., U.S.A." This overprint occurred immediately following the 1911 Supreme Court dissolution of the tobacco trust, making it a highly sought-after piece of economic and tobacco history.
