This vintage natural-color postcard shows Pakenham\'s Oaks near New Orleans, Louisiana. Massive live oak trunks and spreading branches are heavily draped with Spanish moss above landscaped plantings. The reverse also calls the grove “The Cathedral of Oaks” and gives period historical statements about the planting, Andrew Jackson, General Pakenham, and the Battle of New Orleans; those claims are not independently verified here. It may interest collectors of New Orleans scenery, live oaks, Spanish moss, Louisiana history, and natural-color postcards. Light wear, toning, spotting, and minor marks are visible.
