This postcard shows the flower-lined entrance to Elysian Park in Los Angeles, California. Established in 1886, Elysian Park is Los Angeles’ oldest public park and spans 548 acres, much of it maintained in its natural state during the early 20th century. The image captures its winding garden paths bordered by colorful flower beds, leading toward tree-shaded groves with distant mountain views.
At the time this card was issued, Elysian Park served as a popular recreational escape for city residents, offering sweeping vistas of the city, valley, and ocean. The park became a prominent feature in Los Angeles’ early park system and remains an important green space today, located near Dodger Stadium and Chavez Ravine.
