binding worn, leather rubbed and chipped with losses, boards scuffed. Some contents with foxing, staining, creasing, edge tears, and some loose or lifting items; overall sound and complete as assembled.
Large scrapbook album, half leather over marbled boards, gilt-lettered \"SCRAP BOOK\" to spine. 77 pages of mounted content assembled over roughly seven decades by presumably a Yorkshire family or individual, with locations including Leeds, Bradford (Baildon), and Ripon appearing throughout.
Contents are a dense mix of manuscript and printed material: original handwritten poetry and prose in period hands, including a valentine poem signed (in reverse) and dated Leeds, 26 February 1819; a manuscript copy of the Margaret Scott epitaph; humorous and sentimental verse; and an unusual inscription in metallic script on blackened paper.
Some printed material includes newspaper and periodical clippings (poetry, anecdotes, royal and topical items, c. 1830s–1850s), Religious Tract Society and Ballymena-printed pamphlets, topographical engravings after T.H. Shepherd, a pencil drawing of the Moravian Church at Little Horton, a Tallis & Co. engraved map of British India with decorative vignettes, two calligraphic admission tickets to the Ripon Millenary Festival pageant of August 1886 (\"D\'Arcy Ferrers, Maister of ye Revells\") and a Ripon Jubilee Hymn broadside, June 1887, and much more.
