Wilson represented Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1861 to 1869, serving during the Civil War and Reconstruction era. He later represented Iowa in the United States Senate from 1883 until his death in 1895. He was an influential Iowa Republican and served as chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee during part of his congressional career.The autograph is handwritten “James F. Wilson” on a small period paper piece mounted to a decorative red paper backing. The reverse of the mount has a handwritten identification reading “James F. Wilson.”CONDITION:
