Yugoslavia: Flag of the Socialist Federal Republic ofYugoslavia, ca. 16x5 Feet, ca. 1960-70. Gigantic cloth flag of Marshal JosipBroz Tito’s Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. During the 1960’s, thisflag was draped vertically from one of the tallest buildings in Skopje, in theformer Socialist Republic of Macedonia. Macedonia at the time was one of thesix socialist republics of the Yugoslav federation. The flag measures ca. 15.7feet in length, and ca. 5 feet in width. The blue, white and red cloth panelsare all sewn together; the large red star and its yellow outline are alsoseparately stitched onto the flag on both sides. The flag has no holes ortears, although there are two small repairs to the red panel: one is “L-shaped”and measures ca. 2 x 1 ¼ inches; the other is next to the first repair and measuresca. 2 inches. The red panel and the red star are faded from the original brightred to a pink; the blue panel has a few minor faded areas, but is overall muchless faded than the red. The flag has never been washed; the white panel showsa few areas of light soiling, but is generally still in very good condition.There are no grommets on the flag, but one end has a small double-ply area,indicating the end from which it was suspended.
