PATTERN & DESIGN

Introduced in the late 1890s, Weller\'s Eocean line became one of the company\'s most admired art pottery series for its softly blended blue-green glazes and beautifully hand-painted floral decorations. Late Eocean examples from the 1910s and 1920s often feature richly colored blossoms applied over misty blue-gray backgrounds, reflecting the influence of the Arts & Crafts movement and Art Nouveau styling. Double-handled jardinières such as this example are especially attractive for their balanced proportions, decorative appeal, and exceptional hand-painted artistry.
