POLICY COMPLIANCE NOTE: This is a vintage, non-firing, solid wood and cast metal dummy training rifle manufactured during World War II. It has never been a real firearm, does not have a hollow barrel or firing mechanism, cannot fire any ammunition, and cannot be modified to fire ammunition. It is sold strictly as a historical collectible, theatrical prop, and display piece.
Up for sale is an original World War II U.S. Navy Mark I Dummy Training Rifle manufactured by the Parris-Dunn Corporation. This piece is priced strategically to account for its cosmetic wear while heavily factoring in its rare, fully operational mechanics. Specifically, the bolt action rotates and cycles perfectly, the internal spring mechanism holds excellent tension, and the trigger mechanism still crisp-clicks cleanly. These working functions are highly sought after by collectors because these trainers are frequently found completely seized or with broken internal springs. Buyers should check the metal buttplate closely, as original stamping marks such as "DUMMY TRAINING RIFLE / MARK 1 - U.S.N." are often preserved beneath the surface or visible upon close inspection.
Cosmetically, the wood stock features an older white paint finish, typical of post-war use by local VFW chapters or parade color guards. While there is a visible wood break near the upper handguard currently secured with tape, this represents an ideal, straightforward restoration project using standard wood-bonding techniques or donor handguard bands. The remaining metalwork on the 1903 Springfield-style frame retains an authentic, untouched dark patina with expected light weathering on the practice muzzle. Ultimately, the combination of flawlessly working mechanisms and great restoration potential makes this an incredibly solid investment for any historical home-front collection. The rifle will be packed with extra padding around the handguard and shipped via standard ground service to ensure a safe delivery. Shipping measurements are accurate. Thank you!
