The original 1945 farewell message from General Dwight D. Eisenhower to the members of the Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe. He begins this poignant message with "The task which we set ourselves is finished, and the time has come for me to relinquish combined command....." Eisenhower goes on to express gratitude and admiration for their service and adds a personal word of thanks, before ending with Good Luck and God-Speed and his signature. The message is 6" x 9".
Good condition as shown. It has been folded into quarters and there is a 1" tear on one fold. Two small thumbtack or staple holes at the top. Typical toning from age.
