A superb assortment of material from Sgt. John Phillips of the 4th Infantry Division, starting in 1917 and following his service until 1920. Phillips fought in the First World War and saw combat, acted in the Occupation of Germany in 1919, and at some point traveled across Germany into Poland, where he was in Lwow (Lviv) during the Polish-Soviet War, as shown with various tickets and pieces of ephemera.
There is so much material here that it is astounding, including assorted 4th Infantry booklets, manuals, training materials, photos, rosters, and even two books relating to the Division during the war.
Plenty of personal items from Phillips included, with various stubs, hand-drawn items, a Bible, a small handmade fishing line, his hand-painted helmet, tunic, and more.
A very nice assortment of patches.

Some items with expected wear - these items were in the hands of one family and drifted around various locations. Helmet is without liner.
A lovely and seldom-seen so complete lot. Excellent for any historian of the 4th Infantry Division.
