I have a nice old piece of history I’ll be taking offers on. I had originally purchased this document at the Alburgh ,Vt sale house . This was the only New York document out of the collection from the lot I purchased. Alburgh, Vt is about 30 miles east of Malone, NY.
Born in Malone , Ny June 30, 1819 .
Died in Malone, NY. June 4 , 1887
William belonged to the Whig party.
This is a very old document ( March 21 ,1880 ). This was written while WILLIAM A. WHEELER was the UNITED STATES 19th VICE PRESIDENT for PRESIDENT HAYES .
A year before taking office his wife had passed, Wheeler served 1877-1881 . You will see this painting/ letter dated 1880 which puts him in office . The hand painted flower was somewhat the subject of this letter . The end of the letter, last line tells you what this flower is . “ FORGET- ME - NOT .
The handwriting is amazing by today’s standards . Today in our region children are not even taught handwriting. I’ve owned this for some 30 odd years and it’s still in amazing condition. As time goes by I am selling off a few of my items. This needs to go into a persons hands that appreciates history . This has everything! Name, signature, date , hand pained FORGET ME NOT, and beautifully written note/ poem/ letter. Questions
