W.R. Withers, Builder, Contractor, Decorator, The Borough – Wemore, Somerset c1920s Roll of Ribbon. An interesting roll of Ribbon that repeats the name and address of a Business over and over again. I think that perhaps it was to be used to tie / bundle items up. It had a use for that business. It reads W.R. Withers, Builder, Contractor, Decorator and Dairy Engineer, The Borough, Wedmore Som. ‘Phone 10. This is printed in black on the ¼” width green ribbon what has yellow edging. It is in a thick card reel that measures just over 4½” high. Print on the ends of the reel shows that it was made by P.P. Payne & Sons Ltd of Nottingham. The wording repeats every 17”. I have no idea how long the ribbon is – but it is really full and it must contain many hundreds of feet. Not sure of its exact age but it looks to be from around a hundred years ago.
