Featuring (5) Authentic Vintage Zippo Lighters (1958–1962), Dog Tags, Patch & Uniform Accents
Up for sale is a remarkable, cohesive piece of Cold War naval history. This is an original, single-owner estate grouping belonging to U.S. Navy Sailor James M. Connon (Service No. 586-85-49), who served aboard the Forrest Sherman-class destroyer U.S.S. Manley (DD-940) during her peak deployment years in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Instead of being pieced out, this collection is being offered entirely together to preserve its historical integrity and provenance.

1. Five (5) Vintage Zippo Lighters:
• 1958 Zippo (Bottom Lighter): Features the classic 4-dot date code (•••• ZIPPO ••••) with PAT. 2517191. Engraved ship silhouette.
• 1960 Zippo (Middle Lighter): Features the 3-dot date code (••• ZIPPO •••) with PAT. 2517191. Engraved ship silhouette.
• 1962 Zippo (Top Lighter): Features the 2-dot date code (•• ZIPPO ••). Engraved ship silhouette.
• Two (2) Boxed Zippos: Includes two high-grade lighters in their original vintage Zippo "Unconditionally Guaranteed" cardboard display boxes. One features a beautifully detailed colored ship engraving, and the other features a striking midnight-blue/black ship emblem finish.
• Note: One loose chrome lighter features the traditional USN Anchor insignia on the reverse.
2. Personal Identification:
• Two (2) complete sets of original military-issued steel dog tags on ball chains stamped with the veteran's name, service number, religion, and blood type.
3. Uniform Gear & Insignia:
• Brass Web Belt Buckle: Featuring an inset enamel U.S.S. Manley ship crest.
• Ship's Crest Patch: A large, beautifully embroidered gold, blue, and white cloth jacket patch.
• Uniform Name Tapes: Two original stenciled fabric "U.S.S. MANLEY" uniform tabs.
• Lapel Pin: An original sterling-backed enamel lapel button on its original Gemsco display card.
Condition Report:
This lot is in excellent vintage condition. The boxed lighters show minimal to no pocket wear and crisp graphics. The loose lighters show a beautiful, honest pocket patina, light surface scratching, and standard hinge play consistent with actual use aboard a naval vessel. All hinges function properly.
