The mechanism winds up smoothly and the sound quality is GREAT thanks to the solid, well-constructed box. It switches between the songs perfectly and automatically. The music starts and stops (at song end) via the front slider button.This box plays “Strangers in the Night” in 3 parts — a rare and hard-to-find playlist. Written by German composer Bert Kaempfert, the tune was originally crafted as an instrumental theme before lyrics were added by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder. Sinatra’s 1966 recording made it iconic. The melody has a smooth, mid‑century warmth and is well adapted to play on a music box.
CONDITIONThe wood case is in excellent, vintage condition. It is structurally perfect. The finish is very good with only light typical crazing. There are no notable dings or cuts. The music box movement is loud and sounds excellent. The sound is clear, precise, and lovely. There are a no instances squawks or buzzes that can be present in old music boxes.
