Vintage Tea Set SMOKE DRAGONWARE Made In Japan circa 1920s

Beautiful hand painted white porcelain with hand applied raised Moriage accents to the dragons and clouds. Smoke ring patterning with colored suns in pink and turquoise. Gold gilt accents such as the pearl the dragon is chasing, and gold rims to all pieces. Gold handles.

Porcelain is very fine quality, so thin and delicate that you can see your hands though it when held to light

The artistry and hand applied minute details are exquisite

16 piece set includes: 1 Tea Pot with 1 matching Lid

5 Teacups with 6 matching Saucers /Saucers have indent in center for Cups

1 Creamer

1 Sugar Bowl with 1 matching Lid

This gives a full tea service for 5, with a matching saucer as an extra. You can also place the creamer on the extra saucer, which looks quite charming.

MADE IN JAPAN is in red on the underside of all pieces

Footed: teapot, cups, sugar and creamer are all on a pedestal foot base

Completely hand painted, the images are the same but vary slightly from piece to piece.

Scene of the dragon is the traditional blue eyed dragon flying through the clouds in pursuit of the Pearl Of Wisdom, which is just out of his grasp.

Teapot 7.5" tall with lid, 2.25" round opening at top

Sugar Bowl 4.25" tall with lid, 2" round opening at top, 5.5" across handle to handle

Creamer 3 1/8" tall, 4 5/8" long spout to handle

Cups 2 1/8" tall, 2.5" across top

Saucers 4.75" diameter

Excellent condition to all 16 pieces- wonderful for age. One cup has a small wrinkle line in the porcelain on the INSIDE of the cup, super minor, see last pic. Not a crack or damage. It is a smooth, small raised line where the porcelain wrinkled when being cast. It is not visible from outside and is very slight. NO nicks chips cracks crazing or scratches to ANY pieces in this set. Some slight wear to gold normal for age, not excessive and hardly visible, as well as some slight rubs to the moriage here and there again VERY MINOR. See all pics and use zoom.

A magnificent set- must have been carefully looked after and rarely if ever used. Rare to find a set like this in such incredible condition.

Will be a showstopper anywhere this is displayed!
