Beautiful lot of 5 vintage Scandinavian hand-painted wooden plates and platters featuring traditional Norwegian-style Rosemaling, floral designs, folk figures, and cultural motifs.
The pieces range from approximately 10” to 14” and make an excellent grouped wall display.
Included in the lot:
• Large scalloped platter featuring a couple in traditional folk clothing seated at a table. Inscribed “Giv os idag vort daglige brød” and hand-signed F. Rustad.
• “Daily Bread” plate with the English blessing “Give us this day our daily bread!” surrounding a blue and pink floral medallion.
• Large Rosemaling plate with detailed floral scrollwork and a gray fluted border with red accents.
• Folk dancers charger plate depicting a man and woman dancing in traditional clothing with a decorative geometric border.
• Raised-rim wooden plate/tray with painted side accents and a dark geometric/floral center design.
Condition:
Vintage condition with normal age and surface wear from display and handling.
The large gray-border plate has an age-related split/check in the wood along the backside, visible in the photos. It follows the wood grain and does not appear to be a repaired break. The plate remains intact for display but should be handled carefully. It does not break through so it makes me think it was a makeshift notch
The other four plates are structurally sound with typical vintage surface wear. Some retain hanging wire or hardware on the backs.
Please review all photos carefully for condition, signatures, painted details, and rear construction.
